Synopsis
Det forj ttede Land var med til at give Henrik Pontoppidan Nobelprisen i 1917. Bogen giver et fint billede af livet p landet i 1880'erne. Hovedpersonen er en ung pr st, men vi kommer ogs indenfor hos den fattige landarbejder, den velst ende bonde og den emsige k bmand. Vi ser bl.a. hverdagens liv, vi er med til bryllup og begravelse, og vi f r et fint billede af den kamp, der dengang udfoldede sig mellem forskellige religi se bev gelser. Her kommer den unge idealistiske hovedperson ogs til at spille en betydelig rolle. N rv rende udgave af bogen holder sig strengt til udgaven fra 1918, men den er redigeret med n nsom h nd for at hj lpe nutidens l sere. Retskrivningen er moderniseret, ordstilling og tegns tning er undertiden ndret en smule, og s er en lang r kke gammeldags ord erstattet af nye. Derfor kan denne bog l ses af alle.
